About Monica
Monica Rolquin, an experienced real estate broker and licensed North Carolina
attorney, provides the highest level of professional real estate services
to her clients. A combination of 14 years in law practice and more than 10
years in the real estate business brings a unique perspective and an unparalleled
combination of knowledge and expertise to the services she offers.
Monica’s Legal and International Credentials
Born and raised in London, England, Monica grew up in a family that included
Irish parents and three siblings, including her identical twin. A graduate
of the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Bachelor
of Laws degree, she was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a “barrister.” Believing
that the grass was greener on this side of the Atlantic, Monica moved to New
York City, earned a Masters of Laws degree from Columbia Law School,
became a member of the New York Bar and practiced commercial litigation with
the well-known firm of Lord, Day & Lord. She later became a litigation
partner in the New York city office of two international law firms; Lord
Day & Lord, Barrett Smith and subsequently, Morgan Lewis & Bockius.
Monica’s Interests
After marrying a Long Island native in 1995, Monica and her husband Jim decided
to leave the “rat race” in the big city and move south for a new
lifestyle. When they relocated to Wilmington NC, they knew they had found the
best place to call home and raise a family. They have two young children and
enjoy many activities as a family, including the beach, kayaking, boating,
traveling and music. Occasionally, Monica will perform an Irish jig or reel!
Monica’s passion for helping others, especially children, has led her
to make a personal donation after every closing to the Intracoastal Realty
Teacher’s Fund and The Least Among Us. In addition, Monica
and her husband recently returned from humanitarian trips to El Salvador on
behalf of The Least Among Us which raises funds for building schools
and providing scholarships to under-privileged children in El Salvador.
Monica also has a deep interest in the Arts and the rich cultural activities
that Wilmington NC has to offer. She and her husband have been the lead sponsors
of several theatre productions by The Thalian Association at historical Thalian
Hall, most notably “Cats” and “Jekyll and Hyde” in
addition to “Collected Stories” starring Wilmington’s own
Linda Lavin at The Red Barn Studio Theatre.
Monica’s Accent on a First Class Real Estate Experience
Monica joined Intracoastal
Realty in 1997 where today she applies her expertise for the
benefit of her national and international clientele. To quote Monica: “My
former career as a litigation attorney taught me to provide the highest
level of service to my clients, to always act ethically and to pay attention
to the details. I employ those same skills in representing my buyer and
seller clients as their real estate broker. I pride myself in being a
consummate professional and true to my motto: ‘My Accent is On
Service.’”
